Laura Politte, M.D.

Dr. Politte is a board-certified child/adolescent and adult psychiatrist and the founder of Carolina Pediatric Psychiatry and Development. She started Carolina PPD out of a passion for children’s mental health and for helping individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan reach their fullest potential. Dr. Politte has extensive experience in practicing psychiatry in a variety of settings, including outpatient community clinics (WakeMed Physician Practices), hospital-based emergency consultations (WakeMed Hospital; Newton Wellsley Hospital), and specialty practices for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders (UNC’s Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD); Massachusetts General Hospital’s Lurie Center for Autism). In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Politte has also conducted clinical trials in autism, which fuels her strong interest in evidence-based medicine, and has enjoyed teaching medical students about pediatric psychiatry.

Dr. Politte earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed an internship in pediatrics, residency in general psychiatry, and fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Politte treats a variety of psychiatric conditions, though also has special interest in treating neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan, medically complex children, ADHD, and anxiety disorders. Dr. Politte also loves treating college-aged young adults.
